What makes something change state?
Adding or removing energy, usually heat, which changes how fast the particles move. Study Butler has your kid reason from particle motion rather than memorizing transitions.
What is the difference between melting and evaporating?
Melting is solid to liquid; evaporating is liquid to gas. Both add energy. The butler keeps the start and end states clear so they do not blur.
